Delhi Rain News: Waters from the raging Yamuna river has thrown normal life out of gear in Delhi. The Yamuna water level remained stable for few hours on Thursday, however, it started rising again. Officials at Hathnikund Barrage said that Friday could see more floodwaters seeping into the national capital. Several key areas, including the secretariat which houses the offices of the chief minister as well as his cabinet colleagues, were flooded. The city is also staring at a drinking water shortage following the closure of three water treatment plants Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla. Meanwhile, schools and colleges will remain shut till July 16.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted that Delhi will likely receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms for the next 4-5 days. On Friday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the Delhi government is taking all measures to ensure that there are no barriers to the exit of water entering the capital. The national capital continued to witness a flood-like situation on Friday in several low-lying areas near the Yamuna following heavy rainfall and spate in the river for the past few days.
IMD has predicted a generally cloudy sky over the National Capital Territory with chances of light rain or thundershowers.
