Sanwo-Olu plans project inauguration for second anniversary Dayo Ojerinde Published 26 April 2021  The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will from Tuesday inaugurate some projects as part of activities marking his second-year anniversary as governor. The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, in a statement on Sunday said many events had been planned to mark the anniversary. “How far has Governor Sanwo-Olu gone in his journey to a greater Lagos? This is the main question that will be answered as the administration marks its second year anniversary as from Tuesday, April 27. Malaria remains public health challenge globally, says expert The Punch Published 5 April 2021 A consultant medical parasitologist, Prof. Wellington Oyibo, has lamented the burden of malaria globally, saying the ailment remains a public health challenge. Oyibo, who is also the head of the ANDI Centre of Excellence for Malaria Diagnosis, College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Idi-Araba, Lagos, said malaria morbidity and mortality had remained high over the years. The expert spoke at the third anniversary of St. Rachael’s Pharmacy and the unveiling of the firm’s new antimalarial brand in Lagos. According to him, the neglect of malaria interventions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic will escalate the malaria situation.

Firm, traders seek approval to rebuild Ibadan complex

Punch Newspapers Sections Dayo Ojerinde The owner of Pelly Foam Industries Limited, Ibadan, Oyo State, Dapo Davies, and the traders in the complex have appealed to the Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, to grant them approval to rebuild the destroyed complex. The foam-making industry situated at Dugbe, Ibadan was gutted by fire last year. This was contained in a letter by their counsel, S.O. Sanni & CO, to the governor. The letter, dated April 8, was made available to our correspondent on Wednesday. The traders explained that though they had submitted necessary documents requested by the relevant agencies for renovation permit, the approval had not been granted.
