States on Tuesday started receiving their consignments of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine with Lagos collecting 507,000 doses, Nasarawa, 61,000; Ekiti, 52,960 and Ondo, 75,570.
Officials of the states disclosed these figures to The PUNNCH in separate interviews just as one of our correspondents gathered that between 150,000 and 160,000 doses would be given to Katsina State.
Recall that the Federal Government on Tuesday last week received 3.94 million doses of the vaccine from COVAX facility, an initiative co-led by the Vaccine Alliance, GAVI and the World Health Organisation.
On Monday, 50,000 doses of the vaccine were given to Ogun State by the Federal Government.

THE Federal Government has confirmed that the movement of Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to states has commenced on Monday while its delivery will be completed on Tuesday (today).
The Executive Director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Faisal Shuaib, stated this during a press conference of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
During the event, the Chairman of the PTF and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, led all members of the PTF and four journalists to receive the doses of the vaccine.
Shuaib said, “The movement of the vaccine to the states has commenced today (Monday). All things being equal, the delivery of the vaccine will be completed tomorrow.

The Executive Director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, Winnie Byanyima, has advocated an end to HIV/AIDS in Nigeria.
According to a statement, Byanyima would pay an official visit to Nigeria between March eight and 10, as part of her efforts to ensure the country wins the battle against HIV/AIDS.
The statement partly reads, “The Executive Director and United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Winnie Byanyima, will be in Nigeria on an official visit from March 8 to 10, her first to the country since taking up her post in November 2019. During her visit, Ms Byanyima, will hold high-level talks on the country’s response to the colliding epidemics of HIV and COVID-19.

The Lagos State Government has sealed no fewer than 11 facilities, including event centres, lounge and nightclubs among others for contravening COVID-19 order and directives.
The Director-General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr Lanre Mojola, in a statement on Sunday said the affected event centres had informed the agency of their intention to organise parties and events, but the number of people met by officials of the agency was more than what they got approval for.
“Those facilities were sealed for non-compliance with COVID-19 regulations of the federal and state government,” Mojola said.
Mojola, who was represented at the sealing by the Events Safety Administrator of the agency, Dr Wale Adeboje, said the affected facilities were UBC Club, VGC; Sapearz Lounge, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi; Bravo Event Centre, Ogba; Ronite Event Centre, Iju Road, Agege; All Season Event Centre, Ipaja; and Olaide Adeoluwa Memorial Hall.
