El Dorado’s girls finished second in last week’s 5A South Track & Field Championships at Hot Springs Lakeside. Conference champion Lake Hamilton will host the state meet on Thursday.
The Lady Wildcats won the 5A state championship last season. If they are to repeat the feat, they will have to do it through the air, as in the jumping events.
HOT SPRINGS - El Dorado’s girls finished second Tuesday in the 5A South Track & Field Championships, hosted by Hot Springs Lakeside. The Wildcats finished third in the boys’ competition.
Senior Davin James cleared 5-6 in her first meet as a junior and never accomplished the feat again … until Tuesday in Nashville. James chased that height for a year before uncorking a 5-6 high jump at the Coca-Cola Relays.
Rain last week poured water on the area sports calendar, leaving teams to shake up their schedules. In softball, El Dorado has a make-up game against Sheridan Monday at the El Dorado/Union County Recreation Complex, beginning at 5 p.m. The Lady Wildcats will play a doubleheader at Benton on Thursday.
