Music Outside, African American Heritage Festival, Dance And More: Lots On Tap In Charlotte

It’s time to take a look at events on tap for the weekend in the Queen City. The Charlotte Museum of History is hosting its annual African American Heritage Festival, an outdoor jazz series kicks off, the Davidson Players have a comedy production this weekend only, and the Bechtler Ensemble will be at the Duke Mansion.

Upscale Townhome Project In Davidson Will Have Affordable Units

/ An architect s drawing of the planned Hoke Townhomes in Davidson. The town board in Davidson Tuesday night approved a plan that will use public and private money to build affordable housing as part of a proposed 81-unit luxury townhome development. Eight affordable units will be scattered throughout the new neighborhood, which is to be built at the former Hoke Lumber yard off Jetton Street on Davidson s west side. To help the developer build the units: The town will kick in $400,000 from its affordable housing fund. Another $400,000 will come from the Davidson Community Foundation. The developer, Alliance Group, also agreed to discount the home prices by $150,000 per unit.

Justin Crews have been promoted to captain and criminal investigations commander/public information officer (PIO), respectively. Walker most recently led criminal investigations and simultaneously served as the department’s PIO. His law enforcement career spans over 25 years, beginning with the Appalachian State University Police Department. He began his service with SPD in 2002. His previous responsibilities included supervision of the patrol division, training, and recruitment.
