Partnership for new affordable housing in Davidson
PRESS RELEASE :::
In response to the need for more affordable housing (AH) in Davidson, and sparked by overwhelming support from residents for AH in the new Hoke Townhome development, a community partnership has united to turn need into reality. Galvanized and led by Davidson Community Foundation (DCF), working hand-in-hand with supportive developer, Alliance Group of North Carolina, experienced non-profit housing agency, Davidson Housing Coalition, and the Town of Davidson Affordable Housing and Equity Department, the partnership’s efforts have resulted in plans for 8 AH units within the Hoke Townhome development. Construction of the 81-unit development is expected to begin this summer, with units available in early 2022. The 8 AH units will be distributed throughout the development.

The town board in Davidson Tuesday night approved a plan that will use public and private money to build affordable housing as part of a proposed 81-unit luxury townhome development.
Eight affordable units will be scattered throughout the new neighborhood, which is to be built at the former Hoke Lumber yard off Jetton Street on Davidson s west side. To help the developer build the units:
The town will kick in $400,000 from its affordable housing fund.
Another $400,000 will come from the Davidson Community Foundation.
The developer, Alliance Group, also agreed to discount the home prices by $150,000 per unit.
