Single-Payer Reform and Rural Health in the United States: Lessons from Our Northern Neighbor Abstract Single-payer health reform has secured its place in the mainstream American health policy debate, yet its implications for particular subpopulations or sectors of care remain understudied. Amidst many unanswered questions from policymakers and political pundits, rural health has emerged as one such area. This article explores rural Canada’s five-decade-long experience with a national publicly funded health insurance program as a valuable opportunity for cross-national learning. During March 2020, I conducted 13 semi-structured, elite stakeholder interviews with government officials, academic researchers, rural hospital executives, public health association leaders, rural health administrators, and representatives from provincial medical, hospital, and physician associations in Ontario. Zoning Board approves cell tower March 03, 2021LITTLETON Vertex Tower Assets received the green light from Littleton Zoning Board officials last week to develop a 140-foot communications tower near the hospital. The Massachusetts-based company secured a special exception in late Jan but needed additional variance approval because of the site s proximity to an existing tower. Section 6.10.12 of the town s zoning ordinance indicates that no personal wireless communications tower of any kind may be located within a one-mile radius of any other personal wireless communications tower without variance approval from the zoning board. In a variance application filed on Feb. 2, Vertex attorney Frank Parisi argued that the existing structure was not a personal wireless communications tower.

Zoning Board approves Hitchiner development February 17, 2021LITTLETON Last week, the Littleton Zoning Board unanimously approved a variance request to develop upscale housing at the historic Hitchiner property on Beacon Street. Because the location was zoned industrial, a variance was required to create multi-family housing units. However, the building itself pre-dates the existence of Littleton zoning laws. According to Zoning Board Chair David Rochefort, board approval was unanimous. He said, The plans presented by developer Al Croteau was well thought out and fit both the immediate area and the community. We are excited about the project. Approximately 124 studio and one-bedroom apartments will consume 103,000 of the 140,000 square foot structure. The remaining 37,000 square feet, spread over eight interconnected buildings, are slated for commercial purposes such as storage and retail.
