REGINA The Winnipeg Ice proved to be too much for the Pats to handle on Saturday when Regina fell 5-2 inside the Queen City’s WHL hub at the Brandt Centre. Pats forward and exceptional-status rookie Connor Bedard stretched his point-scoring streak to an impressive twelve games. However, the Pats were banged up on the back end and dressed just five defenders in the contest. Winnipeg’s Skyler Bruce opened the scoring 1:52 into the opening frame, fighting off a check from Pats defenceman Ryker Evans, spinning away from pressure and beating Roddy Ross five-hole to open the scoring. Bruce’s first on the year would be the lone goal. The Ice headed to the dressing room with a 1-0 lead in a fairly evenly matched period. A spark comparison to the 8-3 drubbing the Ice handed the Pats earlier in the shortened WHL East Division season.

Connor Bedard’s already-spectacular but short season will get even more minuscule with the Regina Pats.
The 15-year-old rookie phenom will be joining the Canadian team for the IIHF under-18 world championship in Frisco, Texas. He is the only 2005-born player to get the call to the team.
“It’s a dream come true. As a Canadian kid, you grow up with that dream of getting to wear a maple leaf and when I found out, I was very excited. It’s a super-special opportunity and that’s something I can’t wait for,” Bedard said following a 7-2 loss against the Brandon Wheat Kings on Thursday at the Brandt Centre.
REGINA After a difficult start to the season, Pats’ goalie and NHL draft choice Roddy Ross has settled into the crease, earning his first two wins of the season back-to-back. “Getting those two big wins back to back was really huge not only for me, but for our guys,” Ross said on Wednesday. The 20-year-old started with season with five straight losses. Pats’ head coach Dave Struch said the team expected more success, but noted a young lineup in front of Ross. “We’re working hard defensively but we made a lot of mistakes that didn’t help Roddy out either,” Struch said.

Two young players just beginning their WHL journeys helped their teams get in position to win Tuesday, but the Moose Jaw Warriors beat the Regina Pats 5-4 after an extra frame.
Pats forward Connor Bedard continued his hot start to the season, with the first overall pick in the 2020 bantam draft recording two assists in the game at the Brandt Centre.
But it was Warriors forward Brayden Yager, who was taken just two picks after Bedard, who helped his team get the win. Yager assisted on Daemon Hunt’s game-winner in overtime for his third point of the game.
