Town s U18s will feel they have every chance of lifting the FA Youth Cup at Portman Road on Friday after a 2-2 draw with Southampton in the first leg at the St Mary s Stadium. The Saints went ahead via a David McGoldrick penalty seconds before the break but two goals from Cathal Lordan put the Blues ahead prior to Leon Best s equaliser.
Town s U18s travel to Southampton tonight for the first leg of the club s first FA Youth final for 30 years (KO 7.45pm). The Blues will be without striker Billy Clarke who has a knee injury which he sustained late in the second leg of the semi-final with Spurs.
Town s U18s will take a 2-0 lead into Wednesday s FA Youth Cup semi-final second leg after the first game at Portman Road. Midfielder Liam Trotter put the Blues in front in the first half and Irish U19 international striker Billy Clarke added the second after the break.
Striker Shefki Kuqi has been called up for Finland s World Cup qualifier with the Czech Republic on Saturday in Teplice. Kuqi will win his 38th cap for his adopted country if he plays against the Czechs.
Pablo Couñago scored the Town reserves goal as they drew 1-1 with West Ham at Portman Road. The Spaniard netted just before the half-hour mark but young Hammers frontman Hogan Emphraim equalised in the second period.
