Both Town s senior youth teams defeated Chelsea at Playford Road on Saturday morning. Ian Nimmo, back after a lengthy absence due to a broken leg, lashed in a last minute 20-yarder to give the U18s a 1-0 victory, while Jordan Rhodes, son of goalkeeper coach Andy, scored twice as the U16s won 2-0.
Norwegian midfielder Vemund Brekke Skard will make his first appearance in a Town shirt this evening when the reserves take on Fulham at Portman Road (KO 7pm). The game was originally scheduled to be played at Needham Market s Bloomfields but the poor condition of the pitch meant the match was switched back to more familiar territory.
Town s U18s travel to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup this evening (KO 7pm). Darryl Knights, Aidan Collins, Shane Supple and Owen Garvan are the most familiar names involved in the game.
Town s U18s progressed to the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup after defeating Stoke City in extra-time at the Britannia Stadium, both goals coming from Liam Craig. The youngsters can look forward to a home tie against either Aston Villa or Port Vale in the next round.
New striker Alan Lee will make his Town debut on Saturday when the Blues take on Sheffield United at Portman Road. Despite the acquisition of the former Cardiff player for £100,000 earlier this week, the Blues remain short of fit strikers.
