Philadelphia Police Officer Andriy Smerechanskyy was interviewed by Matthew Dubas of The Ukrainian Weekly after being informed by Taras Smerechanskyy, Andriy’s twin brother, about Andriy’s work with the Philadelphia Police Department. Officer Smerechanskyy and his brother Taras expressed their hopes that other members of the Ukrainian community may be inspired to work in public service or law enforcement. A Craigneuk man was caught with a knife while on bail awaiting sentence on a similar charge.
A Hamilton sheriff said Daniel Boyle’s behaviour “beggared belief” as he ordered him to serve extra jail time.
Boyle, 31, of Laurel Drive, admitted unlawful possession of a blade in Meadowhead Road and Shieldmuir Street on May 14.
