It didn’t take the Brush City Council long on Monday night to say “new year, new me.” Within a few minutes of its meeting, the council swore in its new members. Nathan Tyree, Justin Spradlin, Daniel Scalise, and David Basil were individually sworn in and then took their seats next to their fellow councilors. Tyree was the Ward 1 incumbent, who ran unopposed last November. Spradlin was the Ward 3 incumbent who beat out two other candidates. It was a short Brush City Council Meeting on Monday evening, lasting only 10 minutes, but the council heard about plenty of events happening this week as well as some items coming before them to start the new year. The meeting started with Community Development Director Tyler Purvis informing the board of a recommendation to appoint MaKyle Mares to the Historic Preservation Board.
