WATERTOWN, N.Y. âIn talking with some of the county legislatures, I donât see the county supporting this,â said Council Member Lisa Ruggiero.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - For the head of Watertownâs firefighters union, itâs a prime example of what could go wrong without the heavy rescue truck.
Union President Dan Daugherty says firefighters responding to a medical call in a fire engine Tuesday may have been exposed to COVID-19.
Daugherty says the rescue truck would have handled that call, but the vehicle was taken off the streets by city council.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Watertown City Fire Departmentâs heavy rescue truck would have gone on four emergency medical calls on Monday, according to fire union head Dan Daugherty.
Last week, city council passed a resolution that officially went into effect on Monday, taking the heavy rescue truck off the streets of Watertown.
The truck, now parked in the fire station, was mainly used for EMS services.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - Watertown City Council will vote Monday night on the future of the city fire departmentâs heavy rescue truck.
A resolution on the council agenda would take the rescue truck off the road and no longer have the fire department respond to emergency medical calls.
It would leave EMS response up to only Guilfoyle Ambulance Service.
The fire union has railed against the move, saying it violates their contract and hurts public safety.
