NEW YORK (WWNY) - New York state is adopting the guidance the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released last week for not wearing a mask if youâre fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that fully vaccinated people donât need to wear masks both outdoors and indoors in most cases as of Wednesday.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - New York state could start vaccinating kids 12 and older starting Thursday.
All it needs is the stamp of approval from the CDC and the Advisory Committee on Immunization, which will be meeting Wednesday.
With the pool of those eligible increasing once again, Jefferson County will continue its “pop-up” vaccination clinics at local schools.
Unlike other counties though, there won’t be an incentive to get the vaccine.

CARTHAGE, N.Y. (WWNY) - Thereâs a race for the Republican nod to represent District 7 on the Jefferson County Legislature.
Champion town councilman Matthew Gump is challenging incumbent legislator John Peck in the Republican primary.
The primary will be held in June.
Peck was first elected to the seat in 2011 and is in his fifth two-year term.
Gump was first elected to the town council in 2019. His four-year term is set to expire at the end of 2023.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - As north country law enforcement agencies lay out police reform plans, Jefferson County Sheriff Colleen OâNeill says thereâs one issue theyâve never quite been able to tackle throughout her career.
Thursday night Jefferson County Legislature chair Scott Gray and Sheriff Colleen OâNeill hosted a public forum on a 21-page police reform draft.
âIt describes I think in pretty good detail what we do, what I expect of the deputies, that we all lead by example,â OâNeill said
