The Central government employees must note that the dearness allowance is worked out on the basis of the latest Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) brought out by the Labour Bureau every month.
The DA hike, which will be effective from July 1, 2023, is expected to be 3 per cent, according to media reports. After the increase, the dearness allowance will reach 45 per cent.

Reports claimed that the Centre is likely to announce a hike in DA after the G20 summit in Delhi which will end on September 10. However, there has been no official confirmation on the matter so far.
