The city and state have come together to do something thats usually, typically reserved for Highway Patrol officer. What theyve done today is theyve renamed a section of highway 87 after officer johnson. Within the past hour at the great oaks parkway, San Jose Police station in the south county, the department brass, mayor, and officer johnsons family, they dedicated, quote, memorial highway. The city unveiled a mockup of the sign with the officers name. They had the ceremony here, because it would have been too dangerous along the very busy highway 87. The section of highway 87 that is named after officer johnson will run from interstate 280 south to highway 85. If youre not familiar, this is a major corridor for commuters driving to and from work in silicon valley.
