Entire coastline of Tamil Nadu from Chennai to Tuticorin, Puducherry & Karaikal and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh need to go on alert for hazardous weather conditions between 07th and 10th December 2022, with an adverse peak on 08th Dec.
Heavy to extremely heavy rains with gale speed winds are likely to batter Tamil Nadu and Coastal Andhra Pradesh, between 7th and 9th December with a spike on 08th Dec. Later, the heavy rains will spill over to parts of Rayalaseema, South Interior Karnataka and Kerala.
This will be the 2nd cyclone of northeast monsoon season, after Sitrang in late October, which struck Bangladesh. State of Tamil Nadu need to go on alert and the preparatory time be gainfully utilised to meet the challenge of stormy conditions between 06th and 08th Dec.
Oceanic state do not seem to be favouring a cyclonic storm in the Indian Seas during the remaining days of November. Cyclonic circulation coming up over North Andaman Sea on 24th Nov is not likely to sharpen further. It may not even become a low pressure area and fizzle out over the sea, off Myanmar coast with in 2-3 days.
It is little early to predict track and course of this potential storm, Sitrang, developing over Bay of Bengal. Once the weather system becomes depression or deep depression, likely track and intensity can be predicted with greater degree reliability and confidence.
