The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that during the day, 479 complaints of falling of trees and branches were received from across Mumbai. Of these, 245 complaints were received from Western suburbs, followed by 156 from the Island city and 78 from the Eastern suburbs.
The civic body also informed that its automatic weather stations recorded an average of 105.44 mm rainfall in the island city till 5 pm, while the eastern and western suburbs recorded 61.13 mm and 114.78 mm rainfall, respectively.
The Mumbai Met department recorded 189 mm rainfall at Colaba observatory while rainfall of 194 mm was recorded at Santacruz till 5.30 pm.

Movement of vehicles on Mumbai's iconic Bandra-Worli sea link has been suspended in light of cyclone Tauktae which iscurrently 160 km south-southwest of the financial capital.
Mumbai and its neighbouring areas today experienced high-speed winds and heavy rains as the "very severe cyclonic storm" Tauktae headed towards Gujarat, uprooting trees and disrupting local train services.

Bollywood actors urge fans to stay home as Cyclone Tauktae approaches Mumbai coast
With cyclone Tauktae advancing over Mumbai, several Bollywood celebrities urged their fans to stay indoors and remain safe. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the cyclone is expected, and it has already reached Mumbai. IMD has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, warning of very heavy rains at isolated places with strong winds on Monday. On the same, B-town stars took to their social media and prayed for city s well being.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan shared a tweet that read, The effects of the #CycloneTauktae have begun .. rains in Mumbai .. please be safe and protected .. prayers as ever.
