Cyclone Mandous latest updates: Due to Cyclone Mandous, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Bengaluru will receive heavy rainfall and strong winds.
Cyclone Mandous began its landfall process near Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu around 9.30 pm on Friday but it’s completed now. According to the latest update by the Indian Meteorological Department, Cyclone Mandous has weakened into a deep depression over the North Tamil Nadu coast. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and gradually weaken into a depression by noon. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force as well as the respective state disaster response forces, along with adequate personnel, have been deployed in Tamil Nadu as well as in Andhra Pradesh. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather bulletin said that cyclone Mandous lay over the southwest Bay of Bengal about 270km ESE of Karaikal. It will move west northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and the adjoining south AP coast between Puducherry and Sriharikota with a windspeed of 65-75 kmph around midnight of December 9 to early hours of 10 Dec. An orange alert has been issued for the north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and south Andhra Pradesh coasts. NDRF teams have been put on alert.
