TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Florida State baseball signed five student-athletes Thursday, head coach Link Jarrett announced. Infielders Alex Lodise (North Florida) and Drew Faurot (UCF) join pitchers Ethan Chenault (UNC Wilmington), Cam Leiter (UCF) and Yoel Tejeda, Jr. (Florida). “We are very excited to have these talented athletes join our program,” Jarrett said. “Their physical skills combined with their dedication and focus stood out to every member of our staff throughout the recruitment process.” Ethan Chenault | RHP, 6-5, 200, R/R, Forest, Va./Miller School (UNC Wilmington) Compiled an 11-7 record, 4.75 ERA and 136 strikeouts in 115.2 innings over 64 appearances for the Seahawks…was 5-2 in 2023 with three saves and 59 strikeouts in 47.2 innings…helped lead UNCW to the CAA regular season and tournament championships and a spot in the Conway, S.C. AUSTIN, Tex. Sophomore Caisa-Marie Lindfors capped a tremendous comeback season with a fourth place finish in the women’s discus with a throw of 59.32 meters. Lindfors battled injuries last year after earning Honorable Mention All-America honors at the 2021 NCAA Championships. She was the ACC Champion in the discus just a few weeks ago.
Freshman Dajaz DeFrand earned First-Team All-America honors as well after finishing eighth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.08. DeFrand, who was the ACC Indoor and Outdoor Women’s Track Most Valuable Performer, earned Second-Team All-America honors in both the 60 and 200 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
Alyson Churchill, a junior, earned Second-Team All-America honors in the 5000 meters with an 11th place finish in a time of 16:02.40.
Florida State closed out the track and field season with the men’s team finishing tied for 15th in the country and the women’s team at 37th. seminoles.com
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The third-seeded Florida State softball team (58-10) fell 5-0 in the first game of the Women’s College World Series Championship Series to first-seeded Oklahoma (60-1) at OGE Energy Field. The night began with an hour-long weather delay before the game got underway. Four outs were recorded before another weather delay ensued and forty minutes later the game resumed once more. Mack Leonard took the start in the circle and in only her second start at the Women’s College World Series kept the OU lineup scoreless through the opening three innings. She sent two batters down swinging and retired four-straight batters on two separate occasions before finishing her outing. The Florida State offense was unable to capitalize on Michaela Edenfield’s single in the third along with leaving runners in scoring position in the fourth. They ended the night with just two hits and gave up five runs after the third inning. The Seminoles now look to tie the series and force
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The third-seeded Florida State softball team (58-9) will begin their third national championship series against No. 1 Oklahoma (59-1) on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. This will not only be a rematch of the 2021 Women’s College World Series Championship Series but also the second meeting between the two teams this season as they played a midweek matchup in Norman on March 14. The Sooners took a tight one-run victory on the day. Series History This will be the 18th meeting between Florida State and Oklahoma. The two teams met earlier this year in Norman where OU took a 5-4 win. This is the third time the two teams have met in the postseason and the second time the teams have met in the Women’s College World Series National Championship.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A pair of outstanding Florida State Men’s Golf Alums and current PGA TOUR players have qualified for their first U.S. Open, which is scheduled to take place June 15-18 at The Los Angeles Country Club.
Hank Lebioda (2012-16 at FSU) and Vincent Norrman (2020-21) each clinched a spot in their first Major after moving past U.S. Open Final Qualifying. Lebioda shot 8-under in two rounds played at both the Northwood Club and the Bent Tree Country Club in Dallas to earn a spot, while Norrman was among three golfers who qualified at Lambton Golf & Country Club in Toronto – carding an 8-under.
