Retired professors plan agitation Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA Professors of University of Mysore, who have retired after April 1, 2018, have threatened to begin an agitation from Friday seeking release of full pensionary benefits. In a letter addressed to Vice-Chancellor Hemantha Kumar, the retired professors said they will gather in front of Crawford Hall in Mysuru on Friday and begin their dharna. “The University is supposed to give DCRG (Death-Cum-Retirement Gratuity) and other benefits immediately on the day of superannuation. But, surprisingly, it is not the case in reality. All of us (particularly for those 45 professors, who superannuated after April 1, 2018 till this day), are given only half of the pensionary benefits; the other half of the amount is due to us from the University”, the letter said.

₹2 cr for road underbridge in Mysuru near Crawford Hall

Updated: Share Article AAA The proposed underpass or road underbridge at the railway gate adjacent to the Crawford Hall has been allocated ₹2 crore in the budget. This is set to give a reprieve to the motorists using the stretch connecting to Bogadi Main Road. The movement of trains to Nanjangud and Chamarajanagar, apart from the shunting of rakes and engines at Ashokapuram, used to result in traffic hold-ups. The Mysuru-Chamarajanagar section has seven pairs of trains which means 14 services besides the movement of rakes which was a major irritant for public using the stretch due to frequent hold-ups. However, in pursuit of its policy to eliminate all manned and unmanned level crossing gates to increase safety, the railway authorities have released ₹2 crore for the works against the estimated cost of ₹2.5 crore.

Ambaari goes on second route inspection in city

Mysore/Mysuru: The trial run or route inspection of ‘ Ambaari,’ a specially-built open roof top double-decker bus to identify the potential obstacles dangling electricity and cable wires, tree branches and LED illumination sets on procession route, electricity poles and arches began in city this noon. This was the second route inspection of the bus.  The ‘Ambaari’ is a Hop-on and Hop-off initiative for tourists to experience the magnificent City of Palaces and other heritage and cultural structures.
