Trump deserves to be investigated. He is violating every basic norm of a president. You should be asking him the question. Why is he on the phone with a foreign leader trying to intimidate a foreign leader . If thats what happened. Thats a thats what happened. You should be looking at trump. Trumps doing this because he knows ill beat him like a drum. And hes using the abuse of power and every element of the presidency to try to do something to smear me. Officials have insisted for days the president was not bluffing on that threat and that he was going to follow through on it unless something dramatic happened and instead of something dramatic happening the white house said mexico is doing more to apprehend the Central American immigrants coming up through mexico from the southern border between the u. S. And mexico. And they say that is why the president is backing off that threat. But brooke, we also know the president has been heeding the warnings of local officials in recent days telling him what essentially it would do if he did close the border and it would devastate the u. Morning, the president was asked again about his tax returns. Whats the latest from the president . Well, erica, the president hasnt said a whole lot about this issue, but he has reiterated one thing, which is that he is under audit and while hes under audit, he does not believe he needs to release his tax returns. Hes responding to what is not actually a request to him. Its a request from the house ways and Means Committee to the irs directly. And heres how he responded to another question from reporters this morning about what he thinks about the possibility that his taxes could be released under the law that the ways and Means Committee is citing in order to make this request. Im under audit. From what i understand, the law is 100 on my side. But erica, its really not clear whether the law is 100 on his side. The ways and Means Committee is citing a part of the irs tax code that gives certain congressional committees the right to request an individuals tax returns. Nancy pelosi said
