The daily COVID-19 positivity rate has reduced and now stands at 9.54 per cent, while the single-day recoveries continue to outnumber the new cases for the 12th consecutive day, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

The active COVID-19 caseload has also reduced to 25,86,782 with a net decline of 1,33,934 cases being witnessed in a span of 24 hours. It now accounts for 9.60 per cent of the country s total infections. The active cases have decreased since its last peak on May 10.

New Delhi: In view of the rising COVID-19 cases, the Goa government on Sunday (May 23, 2021) cancelled Class 10 exams and said that a decision on Class 12 exams would be taken in the next two days.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant confirmed that the decision has been taken to cancel the 10th standard (Secondary School Certificate) examinations due to the pandemic situation. The decision was taken following the recommendation of the committee comprising of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary School Education, State Department of Education, experts from educational field and others, Sawant stated.

New Delhi: Despite a declining trend in the daily number of COVID-19 cases in India, several States and UTs have extended coronavirus-induced restrictions and lockdown to have a full control on the spread of the virus.
Earlier on May 22, there were 2.57 lakh new cases in India, on May 21, there were 2.59 lakh case infections, whereas, on May 20, the country recorded a rise of 2.76 lakh cases.
However, to rein in the spread of infection, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Puducherry have been the latest states and UTs to extend their COVID-induced restrictions for another one or two weeks.

New Delhi: India s COVID-19-related death toll crossed the 3-lakh mark after 4,454 fresh fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry on Monday (May 24, 2021).
The country has been reporting over 4,000 deaths from the past few weeks and the death count has now mounted to 3,03,720.
Earlier on Sunday, 3,741 coronavirus-related casualties were recorded, while on May 22, nearly 4,200 people lost their lives due to the virus. 4,209 deaths were reported on May 21, whereas, 3,874 people succumbed to COVID-19 on May 20. There were 4529 new fatalities on May 19, 4329 on May 18, 4106 on May 17 and 4077 on May 16.
