JUNE 6 The recent statements by the minister and the director general of health regarding Covid-19 infections and severity in children have worried many parents. It was reported that 82,341 children had been infected with Covid-19 from 25th January 2020 till 30th May 2021; the vast majority happening in 2021. Infections have happened to children of all ages, including 19,851 in those under the age of 5 years.
The director general of the Ministry of Health (MOH) also reported that 3 children under the age of five years had died in the first five months of 2021. In addition 27 children had been admitted to paediatric intensive care units (PICUs) this year, with 19 of them aged under five years.
KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah today shared that the Ministry of Health (MoH) recorded three deaths from Covid-19 cases involving children under the age of five in the first five months of 2021. In a statement, Dr Noor Hisham said this is alarming.

New Delhi, May 29: As the second wave of Covid-19 begins to recede after wreaking havoc across India, 577 children lost both parents in its wake between April 1 and May 25, according to the data provided by the women and child development ministry.
However, experts and judges say this figure could be much higher than reported.
Even, the Supreme Court on May 28 said precious time was being lost as children orphaned, abandoned and traumatised by the COVID-19 pandemic were starving without food on the streets of âthis large countryâ, according to The Hindu.
