Glenn Luciano was appointed to fill the council seat until Dec. 31. Tsabari attributed her departure to personal attacks and bullying by the mayor. In accordance with the state statute, the council had 30 days to fill the vacancy by appointing someone from the party of the previous official, in this case a Democrat. During Friday’s special meeting, Mayor Mario Kranjac suggested that the only sitting Democrat, David DiGregorio, make the motion for the appointment. When DiGregorio declined, Kranjac called it “delicious.”

Englewood Cliffs NJ: Affordable housing attorney quits

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS The borough’s new affordable housing attorney is the latest in a string of departures over the past week, bringing the total to five people who have resigned or retired from municipal posts since April 8. Paperwork has been filed with state Superior Court in Bergen County to remove Michael Jedziniak as the attorney of record on a suit against four attorneys who had previously served the borough.  Jedziniak, of the Toms River-based firm Carluccio, Leone, Dimon, Doyle & Sacks, alleges that he was appointed “exclusively” as the affordable housing counsel but that he was instructed by Mayor Mario Kranjac to file the suit against the four attorneys  a task “outside the scope” of the appointment and only “tenuously related” to affordable housing.
