Rules go into effect, aimed at stopping the effect of covid. The stay at home order is not as restrictive as the one in march. But it applies to all counties in the purple tier. That means all bay area counties except for three. That could change if the counties slide from red to purple. They say its a small price to pay to curb the spread of the virus. This was absolutely bustling today with people shopping, dining, and enjoying live music. All things they wont be able to do after 10 00 tonight, when state leaders implement what they call a limited stay at home order. The curfew will end at 5 00 tomorrow morning. Five of the bay areas nine counties have announced the new stayathome order, taking action before they reached the states 15 threshold for icu bed capacity. San francisco, contra costa, santa clara, and alameda counties will all be under the stayathome order by midnight tonight. The order in marin county starts on tuesday. So far at least san mateo, sonoma, and solano counties are not telling their residents they have to stay at home. Now under the order there will be no indoor or Outdoor Dining at restaurants. But takeout orders will still be allowed. Wineries and bars will also have to close, so will hair and nail salons. Officials are warning people not to gather outside of their own households during the holidays. Class Vincent Polanco is mourning the death of his father, gilbert, a san quentin prison guard, first admitted to the hospital in july, after contracting the coronavirus. Then on life support. Sergeant Gilbert Polanco died at Kaiser Santa Teresa at 5 00 sunday morning. Covid19 is a real thing. It takes peoples lives away, and my dad is one of those people, and he did not need to go at the age he was at. Reporter at 55 years old, vincents father gilbert, a san jose native, had wanted to become a prison guard after passing san quentin on a ferry ride in middle school. And he saw one of the guards there as a kid, and he waved at my dad, he literally waved at my dad, and he, like, theres all of these kids, too, but my dad knew that this man waved at him.
