As many as 59 patients died on May 3, the highest number of COVID-19 deaths recorded in Telangana. According to the details in the media bulletin issued by the State Health department, number of people who died of COVID-19 were in single digit from October 8, 2020 to April 15 of this year. The daily mortalities started to gradually increase. Over 50 deaths a day were recorded from April 26. And 59 deaths on Monday is the highest.

The graph of fresh COVID-19 cases continued to rise in the southern States, with Kerala reporting 2,035 new cases, Telangana 216, Andhra Pradesh 175 and Karnataka showing a rise of 1,000 cases in its weekly tally.
Telangana’s 216 cases on Friday was the highest since January 23. The highest number after that was lower, at 189 on February 25. The Health department tested 34,482 people on Friday and two COVID-19 patients died. Health Minister Eatala Rajender asked testing to be raised to 50,000 samples a day, up from the March 1-12 figure of about 41,000.

Though the vaccination process in India is gaining pace with every passing day, the number of new Covid-19 cases in the country has also increased over the past week or so. In Hyderabad, the Resident Welfare Associations (UFERWAS) has now decided to set up panels just to monitor cases in different RWAs.
These panels will monitor people s health and report whenever someone is seen exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms. In such cases, the panels will take action towards shifting the people to hospitals and keep them away from others in order to reduce the risk of the further spread of the virus.
