Telangana To Increase Hospital Beds Over COVID Spike Apr 15, 2021, 13:25 IST Chief Secretary, Sri Somesh Kumar, IAS held a high-level meeting with senior officials at BRKR Bhavan today and took stock of the prevailing Covid-19 situation in the state. He directed the officials to further increase the bed strength for Covid patients in Government hospitals and Private Medical colleges, etc so as to be prepared for any eventuality in case of an increase in cases in the state. Kumar directed the district collectors to ramp up testing, intensify vaccination and focus on enforcing the Government Orders on covid appropriate behaviour, including mandatory wearing of masks. Similarly, Covid care centres should be doubled in all the districts. The private hospitals should also be sensitized on the judicious usage of oxygen, he added.

There is no question of lockdown, Yediyurappa told PTI reporters in Karnataka s Bidar. The CM clarified that the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) has not recommended any lockdown. I am in the TAC. No one has recommended a lockdown, Yediyurappa said. Besides former chief ministers Siddaramaiah and HD Kumaraswamy and Congress state chief DK Shivakumar, the members of Technical Advisory Committee members will attend the meeting on April 18.

Active cases stand at 6,58,909. The country also witnessed a grim record of most fatalities due to covid-19 in a single day in 2021, which stood at 714. The death toll from the virus stands at 164,110, while at least 1,15,69,241 have recovered from the disease.

The revamped Air Suvidha portal includes a new RT-PCR testing package and provision for declaring domestic connection. The Centre has announced new guidelines for India-bound international passengers effective from Monday midnight, due to the emergence of new variants of the coronavirus, which have shown increased transmissibility. Under the new norms, submission of a self-declaration form (SDF) online for all arriving international passengers prior to their scheduled travel and uploading a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR report have been made mandatory. This test should have been conducted within 72 hours prior to undertaking the journey, as per the norms.
