Mr Puljich on Friday said GemLife would let the matter be decided next Thursday at council s ordinary meeting. It was despite Monday s general committee meeting containing a fresh report restating the council s case for refusal. That sparked GemLife to send its own reports about the overall benefits of ambitious project to councillors on Friday. Council s reasons for refusal include the development s conflicts with SEQ Regional Plan and the site not being included in the council s urban growth boundaries. Ms Coyle said the planning act allowed for the approval process to be stopped for up to an accumulative period of 130 days.

Innovative Planning Solutions consultant James Brownsworth said GemLife would be seeking a final debate and vote at the council s March ordinary meeting. The reason for the deferral is to simply allow more time to communicate with the decision makers to respond to the officer report, Mr Brownsworth said. He said with the planning report only becoming publicly available last Friday and GemLife wanted a bigger engagement window of opportunity to make councillors and the community fully aware of the project s benefits. The proposed new Cooroy Golf Club if the GemLife retirement resort goes ahead. Mr Brownsworth said more than 740 jobs would be created through construction jobs on the site at the golf club and the ongoing operation of the retirement village.
