Happened. It was very clear that a major piece of the bridge and some of the paraphernalia under it were coming crashing down. One of the cranes came under it, one did not. The noise was huge and the massive metal coming down was pretty dramatic. Reporter the support were used to support the bridge roadway before the massive cable picked up all that weight just a few weeks ago. The crane was assisting with removal of some of the false work, the temporary supports beneath the bridge and it tipped over. Reporter we went out on a boat to get a closer look. Since theres still a lot of metal in the air, the coast guard is keeping everybody who doesnt need to be on the site away from the site. Reporter caltrans, the contractor and federal osha will conduct an investigation on why what happened happened. I dont know if this will impact the schedule long term. There were no injuries. Engineers looked for possible damage to the new span. The crane tipping over only caused some cosmetic damage too one of the crossbeams of the new eastern span. It just scraped some paint. There is no apparent damage to the Structural Integrity of the bridge. Reporter the weight of the bridge has already been transferred to the cable system. And the supports are no longer needed. So they are going to be looking safety issues . Absolutely. Reporter how long will it take . We dont know. Reporter but as each day happens, they are not going back to work, it will eventually impact yes. That is true. But again, my understanding is that this should not have any Significant Impact on the work schedule. Reporter so what they are going to do is other work on the bridge will resume tomorrow. Dorner jumped out of the snow at me, gun drawn, big, long rifle. So, i just stopped and put my truck in park and put my hands up. He pointed his gun at me and said, i dont want to hurt you, just get out and start walking up the road and take your dog. Reporter dorner raced off again. This time, a fish and game warden spotted him and that officer engaged in a life or death shootout. Dorner realized he had been recognized, rolled down his window, held the pistol out the window and shot at the two wardens in the follow vehicle. Miraculously, never hit the two wardens who were inside.
