There were no injuries. Engineers looked for possible damage to the new span. The crane tipping over only caused some cosmetic damage too one of the crossbeams of the new eastern span. It just scraped some paint. There is no apparent damage to the Structural Integrity of the bridge. Reporter the weight of the bridge has already been transferred to the cable system. And the supports are no longer needed. So they are going to be looking safety issues . Absolutely. Reporter how long will it take . We dont know. Reporter but as each day happens, they are not going back to work, it will eventually impact yes. That is true. But again, my understanding is that this should not have any Significant Impact on the work schedule. Reporter so what they are going to do is other work on the bridge will resume tomorrow. All other construction work removing some of the support systems that could take a while but as the caltrans officials said, they dont expect that this is going to change any of the outcome of the bridge and when its expected to open this fall. Bullets fly from an suv into a maserati on the las vegas strip. The results, a fiery crash involving several vehicles and three people are dead. These are the smashed up remains after a deadly shooting on the las vegas strip. Burnedout vehicles littered the streets after police say a suspect in a black range rover opened fire at a stop light. The apparent target was this maserati. Bullet holes are visible in the windshield. It ak that caused the sports car to smash into a taxi, which ignited a fireball. The maserati traveled through what we believe was a red light at a high rate of speed striking several vehicles. One of those vehicles was a local cab that also caught on fire as a result of the impact. Reporter the shooting happened right outside some of the most famous casinos on the strip. Guests could see the chaos from their windows. There was a loud boom. And then i heard two other booms. And i looked out my window up here in caesars palace. I could see the fireball over here on the corner. Things can happen anywhere. Were just happy that it was at the time it was. I would think that it wasnt that busy down on the strip last night it was packed and if Something Like that happened you would think that there would have been a lot more carnage than there was. Reporter the driver of the maserati was killed along with the taxi driver and the passenger in that cab. Police are searching for the range rover which still had paper license plates. Investigators think the shooting may have followed an earlier confrontation at one of the hotels. They are checking out state agencies in the search for leads. Police saying that fight possibly started in a valet area of the aria hotel. Mgm owns the hotel. They said they are cooperating with the police here to try to figure out if they can identify who the folks involved in the incident are. Reporting live in las vegas, Edward Lawrence, back to you. Edward, im thinking theres this incident tonight and there was a stabbing on saturday night and another shooting death earlier this month. People in vegas must be wondering what in the world is going on. The people here but also the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority are concerned about the perception of the Las Vegas Area but the sheriff came out and said that las vegas is safe that this was a targeted attack because of an altercation that happened between two people and this attack obviously this fight just got out of control is what he said. Thank you. A Bay Area High School football coach blew the whistle on player hazing but he is the one who got sacked. Now that coach is suing the school. His attorney told kpix 5s cate caugiran he got fired for doing the right thing. Reporter Chris Cerbone was the head football coach at st. Patrickst. Vincent high school in vallejo. In december he claimed freshman players told him about sexual hazing between teammates. Chris learned of activity that he believed reasonably was illegal. He reported it to the proper authorities. And he got punished as a result. And thats exactly what California Law prohibits. Reporter after an investigation into these claims was complete, all other coaches suspended with cerbone were reinstated. He and his attorney believe cerbone was the scapegoat in this situation. Cerbone says School Leaders told him he was responsible for the students actions. His Attorney Says thats not the case. We believe that ultimately it was the dean of students, it was the principal, it was the Senior Administrative staff that was responsible for supervising the kids during that period, which was after school let out but before football practice began. Reporter we spoke with a representative with the Sacramento Diocese hotels us, quote, as of now, we havent been served with any lawsuit and wont really be in a position to say much until we are. Reporter instead of swallowing their treatment, a fedup worker came forward three years ago saying she is also worked as a maid at the employers home. While the activists celebrated their victory at the City Hall Press conference, the seven workers received their checks in a separate room. Those workers declined to talk or appear on camera. So we just will stay mainly dry. For the next three storms that ridge doesnt move so this pattern doesnt change. A lot of rainfall for other parts of the west coast namely oregon and washington. But very little if any for us. Well be dry for another week likely dry to the beginning of march. Ill show you futurecast.
