a semi automatic rifle s rate of fire to that of an automatic. there has been a lot of talk about what we can do, where we can come together, and i think this issue represents a very likely common ground, if there is one. sandra: joining me is doug schoen and molly hemingway, both fox news contributors. we re all required to become experts on these guns, molly. something you know a lot about. a few days ago, not many of us knew what a bump stock was. there is an important distinction to be made here. it does not, once used in converting those semi automatic weapons, it doesn t become into the category of an automatic weapon but it does fire at nearly the rate of a machine gun. there is not a ban on this device or this conversion kit or whatever you want to call it. should there be? it s an important semantic division. the entire reason why it is legal to use bump stocks is because it does not it is

owners being open to it. these aren t great tools. they turn a good gun into a toy. they don t improve accuracy and don t serve the function if you go back to the second amendment, the right of revolution, that kind of understanding of our right to keep and bear arms. they don t serve a function there. people don t just oppose all regulation on guns, they oppose them for reasons that have to do with our founding principles and our right to withstand a tyrannical government. this won t serve that purpose. sandra: based on the conversations being add now, do you expect to see any movement from congress? i very much hope so. i would urge congress to keep the legislation specific to what john cornyn spoke about and what senator feinstein talked about and the clip you played. lets get the bump stocks banned and move to common sense. he didn t need all the ammunition. i don t question a gun owner s right to own wp owns and
