Photos by Kathryn Gardner Nelson’s new Police Chief Constable Donovan Fisher is now on the job after being sworn in Friday, March 5, 2021 in the City Hall Council Chambers. Due to COVID-19 in-person gathering restrictions, spectators were not allowed to watch the ceremony. Nelson Mayor and Chair of Police Board John Dooley, conducted the Change of Command swearing-in ceremony for Chief Fisher, who replaced retiring Nelson Police Department Chief Constable Paul Burkart.

RCMP Superintendent Donovan Fisher new Chief Constable at Nelson Police

The Nelson Police Board announced Tuesday that Superintendent Donovan Fisher of the RCMP be sworn in early March at the new Chief Constable of the Nelson Police Department. Superintendent Fisher replaces current Chief Constable Paul Burkart, who is retiring. “Superintendent Fisher is a highly experienced and accomplished leader known for building strong relationships”, said John Dooley, Chair of the Nelson Police Board and Mayor of the City of Nelson.
