On behalf of the Evergreen Board of Trustees, staff, students, families, and community, I would like to thank everyone for their work to help our geographically small, rural, unincorporated community see the dream and vision of sidewalks for safe routes to school become a reality.
Ranking it as the top transportation alternative project of the year, the state Department of Transportation recently awarded the unincorporated community $999,655 in federal funding.
The company, which calls itself the largest lifestyle retailer in the U.S. and was founded in 1938, sells products for home improvement, agriculture, lawn and garden, livestock, equine and pet care.
Evergreen is slated to receive $1 million from the state to fund the construction of sidewalks along U.S. 2, an effort spearheaded by Rep. Tony Brockman, R-Kalispell.
