Meteorologist krystal klei has the details for us. We have issued a first alert for tropical impacts due to hurricane jose. Were going to start this monday evening but last through early thursday morning. Though were starting to feel the impacts already today due to the fact were in a high rip current risk. For the next several days straight, and thats the big deal. We are looking at high surf, high rip current risks, minor coastal flooding possible and some beach erosion especially those areas more prone to this occurring. We want to warn people these are not good days at the shore. Lets look at our tropical satellite. This is hurricane jose. Still a category 1 hurricane. A different location than yesterday. Shore today. Warnings about rip currents are already in effect. Our meteorologist krystal klei is watching. Were watching for tropical impacts. Were talking about feeling some of the effects of jose as it skirts off to the east of us mostly out to sea. Well start with monday night for the major impacts. Jose a high risk of rip currents. This is why we have our first alert in effect. You need to avoid the water if youre down by the shore. Minor coastal flooding. This is minor. Some beach erosion possible. This is all due to swells that will be much larger as jose approaches from the south. There it is right here sitting directly to the east now of georgia and just to the southeast of the carolinas. A little different than yesterday when it was directly to the east of florida because its starting to move on a north track. As it continues to move north thats when it will parallel the east coast and start to bring us the larger swells in the next several days. Visibility locally, current c
To the south southe of Cape Hatteras North Carolina right now it is in the gulf stream, so we have seen some intensification with this storm but as we put this into motion you can see the movement of jose up the north at 9 miles per hour. So this will parallel the east coast and even at its most western path, it is still a good 200 miles off shore of the new jersey beaches, and the delaware beaches. We do expect this storm to weaken by about tuesday afternoon. But the wind field with this storm is more than likely going to expand. So when we talk about the impacts with jose, they will be indirect. We are finding a brush of rain as we get into monday night and wednesday morning. For philadelphia, points to the south and east, if you are north and west of 95 corridor we will not find a whole lot of impact, wave heights 10 to 15 feet high, minor coastal flooding is a concern and we could have gusts as high as 45 s that Tropical Storm watch has been issued for the new jersey beaches and de
