they believe it was the murders appear to have been planned. so the digital footprint could prove valuable, depending though on what they get. it could be a dud. there could be nothing on that computer tower at all. that s one of the key issues to watch out for here. what about the items seized. the hair and the what does that tell you about how they are building their case? the physical evidence could be really important. in a crime as gruesome as this, where there are stabbings involved, you ll be looking at blood evidence. you ll be looking at the hair, and the possibly animal hair. that s parent because we know that at least one of the victims had a dog and was on the scene of the crime that day. so if that is the same hair from that dog, that could be a crucial piece of evidence with prosecutors. it could be crucial. what about the fact that the actual murder weapon has not
physical evidence, which they got plenty of, but the digital footprint. that s what they were really trying to get. you can see in the court papers they wanted to get devices and the computer tower, which they managed to seize. their hope is to try to figure out what was the planning, what was the motive, what went into this event. they want to be able to show this was well thought out. it wasn t some spur of the moment decision. they are trying to show that. they think they can show that through the use of the digital evidence. we do not know the results of that digital evidence. we need more reporting on that. that will come out as will in future hearings. but what is on that computer is going to be key for them when they are trying to show intent. as you indicate, we don t have a motive. there s no murder weapon. if that turns out to be the case, how much harder is it to prosecute a case? it shouldn t be fatal. there s been plenty of cases you don t find the murder weapon. prose
drawings or indications of planning on that part. they did take, which is interesting, a computer tower, right. but i think it is fascinating to look at what they didn t take. because, remember, this was committed on november 13th. this search was executed december 30th. that is about seven weeks later. so as he was being arrested in pennsylvania, the search a few hours later was going on. they didn t get clothing or a mask. they didn t get a shoe with that diamond print. remember they found the shoe print with diamond like a van s shoe. so many things they didn t get. but forensically, things that could be extremely important. we may not find out the conclusions of this until the trial. jean, thank you. well with us now, attorney and criminalist casey jordan. so what you just heard, from the items that were recovered, from kohberger s home, what stood out the most and to get to jean s
point, what stood out to you in relation to what they didn t take? so, to me the stains are really crucial. and reddish-brown, they re inferring that it is blood and they need to confirm that. but whose blood? is it his blood or if it tracks to any one of the four victims, that is very damning evidence. but why is he bleeding in his bed. there has been conjecture that you must have cut himself during the attack. so they would have by now photographed his hands and looked for any scars. even if it is his blood, it is interesting. but to me, the most important thing is that they believe, yet to be confirmed, that they found one animal hair. if that animal hair goes back and tracks and is consistent with the animal hair of kaylee s dog, that again would be very damning. the computer tower, they re going to do a deep dive and find out if you were cyber stalking
