I have been in touch with the owner of the food town and he told me theres never a good time for a fire. But to have one in a Grocery Store so close to the holidays, its especially hard for him. And for the people who shop here. And this food town here at 1478th street and st. Nicolas avenue has been a fixture in this community for about 26 years. But because of this overnight fire, people who live in this community will have an even harder time finding fresh food because there are so few Grocery Stores uptown. Now this fire overnight started around 1 30 this morning and it quickly spread throughout the Grocery Store. It took more than 100 firefighters to finally get it under control. It took a while for them to find the source of the fire, the rear of the building. It was a heavy smokey condition and that hampered the search for the source of the fire.
