Different than seventh and eighth. In terms of the world language, we are in an exploratory phase with our exploratory wheel. So what we really are thinking about is how do we ensure that we are basing the world courses, so that what we are doing in those courses is getting students ready for the next level. We think it is a step in the right direction. It will be offered in cases where students want to take an elective. I think it is for students who entered, but for the sake of approximating redundant, students who entered in pathways in kinder and first grade then were able to take it through the eighth grade. And parents or students who didnt make that choice for their children didnt make that until high school. Its the first step to change that, but the first step to make that more equitable for all students. I want to underscore that i see this as a positive development. Thank you, staff, for making this possible. So how long is a trimester and how is that going to work . Every 1
Middle School Redesign didnt just initiate wonder in one teacher learner, by thousands of middle School Students for whom an education where their voices rise above all of the noise around them and it has never been this bright, this beautiful , and is accessible. Thank you. Hello. My name is jesse walker and im a teacher at roosevelt middle school. Knowing last year that we would be one of the pilot schools for the middle School Redesign, we had the opportunity to go to pdl works conference and learn more about them and how to implement it into our classrooms. That was a huge advantage for us as teachers. We are now able to come back to our school with our Early Release one days and we are doing teacher led meetings for staff. They hear from us teachers how we are implementing it in our classroom instead of some to come in that has not taught for a while. I think all of our staff is really loving these Early Release one date wednesdays. We now have more than three hours of common plan
Variety of opinions as there in this room. I think that was a really brave, and great piece of teaching. I just want to commend him for that. We heard tonight, in fact, he supports taking down the mural. I think we can draw from that that students were encouraged to engage with us on what they felt they werent told what to feel by their teacher. I want to commend him for that. I think its really important and i think its what we hope all of our teachings in our schools is about. I have been particularly guided, by the students, that told us that they felt the murals were demoralizing. I dont think they should be forced to view images at school that make them feel that way. I find it incredibly disrespectful, and intolerant, the adults that have said to us that somehow these opinions dont matter. Even if it is a small group of students that ultimately feel this way, every students view is important and it is really important for us to listen to students, and to that we are listening. I
That our schools need to be places where students feel safe and supported. In general, George Washington high school is such a place. Both of my daughters had positive experiences there. I have really appreciated the letters from students. I saw mr. Reading earlier, i think he has left, but i really appreciated that he has assigned every single one of his students as a final exam to write to us, their feelings about the murals and the opinions were really varied. There was definitely as many variety of opinions as there in this room. I think that was a really brave, and great piece of teaching. I just want to commend him for that.
