Comelec plans to come up with website with info on candidates for 2022 polls

Comelec/MB “It’s still being discussed…we are coming up with a website wherein people can access and see who are the candidates,” Comelec Commissioner Antonio Kho said in a forum organized by the Ateneo School of Government on Monday, May 10. He said the website would probably include national positions such as for President. “That will allow our citizens to access the candidates, their platform of government, the issues of the day and their stand,” said Kho. “We are hoping that it will be adopted come 2022. Just wait for it. It’s a good project, I hope it will be implemented,” he added.

Extension of voting hours in the May 2022 polls almost sure, says poll official

Comelec/MB “It’s almost sure that it will be extended. We will still discuss how long is the extension,” Comelec Commissioner Antonio Kho said in a forum organized by the Ateneo School of Government Monday, May 10. “It would be extended probably up to 10 or even 12 (hours)…it depends because we have to consider the teachers also,” he added. “Chances are it would be a one day election but extended period. Probably additional two to three hours,” said Kho. The voting period is usually eight hours or from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kho said they are also planning to limit to 800 voters per clustered precinct.

No votes win in Palawan plebiscite

The Provincial Board of Canvassers proclaimed the result of the plebiscite on Tuesday, March 16. “On the basis of the foregoing, we hereby proclaim to ratify the division of the province of palawan pursuant to Republic Act 11259 was rejected and disapproved on the basis of the votes cast in the province of Palawan on March 13, 2021,” the PBOC said. Based on the statement of votes by municipality, the “no” votes won in 19 municipalities namely: Narra, Brooke’s Point, El Nido, Aborlan, Sofronio Espanola, San Vicente, Tagaytay, Roxas, Balabac, Quezon, Dumaran, Araceli, Linapacan, Coron, Busuanga, Cuyo, Agutaya, Magsaysay The three municipalities that voted “yes” to the division of Palawan were Rizal, Bataraza and Culion.
