Philly spraygrounds open for summer
More than 90 spraygrounds and splash pads officially opened on Memorial Day Weekend, offering residents a chance to cool off at their favorite local parks.
The spraygrounds will be open seven days a week between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day, weather dependent. Residents should check their local playground or recreation center for the exact hours of operation as locations vary.
“The temperature is rising, and the return of spraygrounds is a sign that summer is almost here,” said Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Commissioner Kathryn Ott Lovell. “Spraygrounds are a great way to stay cool and have fun on those hot summer days. We are excited to welcome residents back to our spraygrounds over the Memorial Day Weekend.”

The Democrats and Republicans will face each other in the June 22 primary with the winners of both primaries going up against Walsh on Nov. 9.
Here’s a breakdown of each candidate’s background and plan for the city, in alphabetical order:
A child under 10 years old found a gun left in a bag in the backseat of a car before accidentally firing it and killing another child Monday in a Fowler Street parking lot, the Fort Myers Police Department revealed Friday in a report.
What started as a day out at Fort Myers Beach continued with a medical emergency and eventually led to a tragic accident, a newly-released, heavily-redacted incident report said. An unnamed adult left a Kimber .380 caliber handgun inside a bag in the backseat of the car and it was found by a child while parked in front of Little Caesars at the Columbus Square Plaza.
