EDWARDSVILLE An Alton man was charged with battery in two separate cases Thursday, including one in which a 13-year-old victim suffered “permanent disfigurement.”
Johnny L. Stiff, 31, was charged Feb. 25 with two counts of aggravated battery in separate incidents. Both charges are Class 3 felonies.
The cases were presented by the Alton Police Department.
According to court documents, on Feb. 19 Stiff “kicked and punched” a woman in the 700 block of Oakwood.
In a second, unrelated charge, Stiff repeatedly hit a 13-year-old girl with a computer cord, causing “permanent disfigurement.”
Bail was set at $15,000 for the first charge, $25,000 for the second.

EDWARDSVILLE The owner of a Granite City mobile home park was charged Wednesday with allegedly paying the Madison County Sheriff’s Department with a bad check.
Mohammad K. Jalali, 40, of St. Louis, was charged Feb. 24 with deceptive practices, a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.
According to court documents, Jalali, the owner of Lakeshore Estates Mobile Home Park in the 3100 block of West Chain of Rocks Road in Granite City, on Aug. 21 presented a check for $608 to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department drawn on a Bank of America account “knowing said checks would not be paid by the depository.”

EDWARDSVILLE An Alton man has been charged with armed robbery and home invasion after a November robbery in the 800 block of Ridge Street.
Antonio M. Evans, 26, was charged Dec. 2 with armed robbery and home invasion, both Class X felonies. The charges were sealed until Wednesday, Feb. 17, because Evans was not in custody.
The case was presented by the Alton Police Department.
According to court documents, on Nov. 17 Evans, allegedly armed with a silver handgun, entered a home in the 800 block of Ridge Street in Alton while at least one person was there and stole $3,000 in cash.

EDWARDSVILLE A man shot by a Madison County deputy in Missouri Dec. 30 following an alleged armed robbery in Glen Carbon and subsequent car chase now faces additional charges for two similar incidents in local store parking lots.
Earl A. Barber, 41, of Ferguson, was charged Jan. 12 with two counts of attempt armed robbery, both Class 1 felonies; unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, a Class 3 felony related to a Dec. 27 incident in Collinsville; and three separate charges of theft from the person, all Class 3 felonies, stemming from incidents in Collinsville on Dec. 1, Glen Carbon on Dec. 4 and Edwardsville on Dec. 14.
