Collin County eagerly awaits supplies for COVID-19 vaccine mega center Just a little prick.
WPA Pool / Getty Images Collin County is ready and waiting to set up a COVID-19 vaccine mega-site, all they need now are some supplies. According to a release, the Collin County Commissioners court voted unanimously on January 11 to contract with a private company, Curative Medical Associates to set up vaccination mega-sites as soon as the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) provides COVID-19 vaccine supplies in larger volumes to the county. Curative will be responsible for the mega-site locations and mobile clinics. The company has already been running large-scale COVID-19 testing operations since spring 2020, and is totally set up to administer publicly allotted doses of the vaccine under the guidelines set by the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) and vaccine manufacturers.
Collin County’s data woes concern residents amid coronavirus spike
For months, members of the Collin County Commissioners Court have challenged the accuracy of data compiled by the state. But the county’s own public health officials have pointed out ways to rectify irregularities.

State Rep. Drew Springer managed to overcome a challenger who drew nationwide attention this year for a seat in the Texas Senate.
Springer, who gathered 32,599 total votes, defeated Shelley Luther for the Texas Senate District 30 seat in a Dec. 19 runoff election, according to preliminary voter data from the Texas Secretary of State’s website. Luther gathered 25,146 votes. Fourteen counties, including a portion of Collin County, make up District 30.
Springer fills the former seat of Pat Fallon, who was elected to serve in Congress’ 4th Congressional District on Election Day, Nov. 3.
“[I am] honored that the citizens of Senate District 30 have entrusted me with this position,” Springer said in a statement shared on social media before nearly half of polling locations finished reporting. “Thank you to everyone who spent time knocking doors, making phone calls, and reaching out to their friends, family, and neighbors to encourage them to vote.”
