house to reimburse michael cohen for paying a woman hush money. remember, it wasn t that long ago, mid- 90s, a president was impeached for an inappropriate relationship in the white house and lying about it. apparently this president has lied about it. but the president who was impeached never wrote hush money checks in the white house. that s just the start. there is four or five other areas that i think are really legitimate questions about dare i use the word criminal enterprise. exactly what this group of people is doing. what about russia? that s what s interesting to my committee. we will, as you might imagine, continue to pursue hard exactly what happened around trump tower in moscow. right. again, the full story hasn t been told there, and that doesn t mean that i m saying there was clearly untoward activity, but everybody lied about it. michael cohen is going to jail for lying about it. can i also just add it s not surprising that cohen didn t really know much about
500. probably. reporter: trump hasn t held back. he is a weak person and not very smart. mr. trump called me a rat for choosing to tell the truth, much like a mobster would do when one of his men decides to cooperate with the government. reporter: in his testimony before the house oversight committee wednesday, cohen described an environment inside trump tower focused on the boss. someone everyone calls mr. trump. a place where cohen didn t have to be told what to do because everyone speaks the same language. he doesn t give you questions, he doesn t give you orders. he speaks in a code. and i understand the code because i ve been around him for a decade. it s your impression that others who work for him understand the code as well? most people, yes. mob bosses will not utter words that are likely to get them in trouble. they do things by ininference, suggestion. people around them in their crew or people who are fixers, know
hey, this thing is coming to a close. it s getting close. i think the extension of the grand jury was the protection of the investigation to make those last minute, hey, we re going to drag you in front of the grand jury opportunities for them. both sides of the aisle would agree that it really needs to wrap newspapup in 2019. i don t think there is a story of, hey, it s wrapping up. they have really gotten that opportunity. people are cooperating. we know now they have said cohen didn t do it right. you know, stone is not fully cooperating. that s why the indictment looks the way it is. manafort isn t getting it right. it s starting to settle in on the people that are cooperating and providing information. you are seeing their sentencing lightened. i think all of that signals to me this thing is probably wrapping up. i think mueller has the story that this investigation will tell. and i think he s pretty much
lying to congress about those tump if f if he can t discuss that, what can he say about his conversations with the president that occurred at that time. they also say lonny davis pushed michael cohen to testify and cohen didn t seem initially to want to do that. so they raised a whole lot of concerns about this saying people will not learn what they want to learn in this testimony, including those hush payments of trump s affairs that may have occurred. we may not learn a whole lot, concern for these subjects. nearly 300 furloughed federal workers were ordered back to work today by the department of homeland security, but they ll be forced to fill positions they were never trained for. they will be getting paychecks
long the discussions with donald trump relating to trump tower moscow lasted. that s a subject that has gotten considerable attention in the past few days from rudy giuliani. and plus, cohen won t be able to talk about some of the financial crimes in the past that he has also pleaded guilty to. as you said at the top, that leaves the question, what will he be talking about? this letter here it does say that cohen s answers will be limited to personal anecdotes about his time working for donald trump. also any experiences he had after president trump became president and they put this out there, brooke, cohen didn t even really want to testify in open session next month. they say his attorney convinced him too. all the while they re down playing this, really making a case maybe for cohen not to come and testify, but it seems like it is still on. he will be there in open session on february 7th. brooke? still got it circled on my calendar. thank you very much. so much of this getting k
