Cllr Thomas Walsh has called for safe pedestrian access to be provided to the railway station in Collooney.
The Fine Gael councillor tabled a motion at last week s Municipal District meeting for provision of a safe footpath , which he said was vital for rail users.
Cllr Walsh, Cathaoirleach of the District, told the meeting he had been contacted by people and residents in the area on the matter, and that the present surface was uneven, disjointed and was holding water.
Given the amount of trains passing on the line, and the amount of people boarding or getting off at Collooney, he argued it was important to provide for better pedestrian access.
