Cllr Angie Dale, leader of Richmondshire District Council A COUNCIL leader who called on people to stay local while on holiday in the Maldives is under further pressure to apologise and make a statement about her actions. The leader of Richmondshire District Council, Councillor Angie Dale, was quoted in a press release on January 8 urging people to “heed the stay local message” while she was on holiday in the Maldives with her family. Calls have been made by Green Party and Independent group leader Cllr Leslie Rowe for Cllr Dale to resign. He is now asking her to make a statement to the council’s Corporate Board or Full Council, to apologise, and he has asked that the whole episode be looked at by the authority’s scrutiny committee.
Solar farm plan I REFER to your report on the proposed solar farm at Scruton (D&S Times, Jan 22) and the comments made by the parish representatives. I would be surprised if all the residents of Scruton were so opposed to the proposals and indeed some may have solar panels on their roof. What I am sure of is that all the people in Scruton will require a good supply of electricity which has to be generated somewhere. It seems that the parish representatives believe that it can be anywhere but not at Scruton, even if it is only a few miles away. This is not a Hinkley Point.
