Jim Duncan track will have time to dry before we start at 9:00 AM Friday. Let’s recap what we saw on Thursday for our local teams and athletes. We started at 9:00 am with the Class 2A and 3A athletes and relay teams. The first event on the docket was the girls’ shuttle hurdle relay. Osage qualified for Saturday’s finals with a time of 1:07.83. The team included Ainsley Dodd, Claudia Aschenbrenner, Brooklyn Halbach, and Paige Kisley. The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura team didn’t qualify, but you can watch KIOW’s full interview with the team here. The Central Springs team ran a 1:11.89 also didn’t qualify.

Area roundup: Clear Lake girls take down Roland-Story

The Clear Lake girls basketball team continued its recent hot streak with a 48-39 win over Roland-Story on Thursday night.  Three Lions players finished with double-digit scoring totals, led by senior Kaitlyn VanderPloeg with 14 points. Juniors Emily Theiss and Jaden Ainley had respective totals of 12 and 11 points.  With the win, No. 3 Clear Lake improved to 14-1 on the season, and has won six consecutive games.  The Lions will play Friday at Hampton-Dumont-CAL.  Girls Basketball Algona 53, Hampton-Dumont-CAL 26: The Hampton-Dumont-CAL girls lost to Algona on Thursday night, 53-26, to fall to 5-11 on the season and 3-6 in conference play.  The Bulldogs will host Clear Lake on Friday night.
