Joan Elizabeth Coleman, age 89, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Joan was born the daughter of Louis James "Toots" and Mary Katherine "Kay" Emling February 22, 1933. She was raised in DuQuoin, Illinois, with her sister Verda and this is where she met the love of her life, Thomas "Ed" Coleman. Joan and Ed were childhood sweethearts and celebrated 69 years of marriage this past summer. Joan and Ed were united in marriage on June 28, 1953. Before moving to Flora, they lived in DuQuoin and Paris, Illinois where Joan spent many nights watching Ed coach at PHS. Together Joan and Ed ran the Surf Club for many years as they raised their young sons. They have resided in Flora since 1975 and enjoyed spending time with their family, attending many Flora High School games and school activities. Raymond Leonard Rutland Jr., age 76, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Thursday evening, December 1, 2022, at his home. He was born July 18, 1946, in Flora, the son of Raymond and Evelyn (Roy) Rutland Sr. He was united in marriage to Dorris Murbarger on February 14, 1992, in Flora, and together they have shared 30 wedding anniversaries. Ray was a 1964 graduate of Flora Township High School. He was a well-known and highly skilled mechanic in Clay County for over 50 years. He loved his animals. Ray liked antiquing and flea markets and was always collecting a little bit of everything. He enjoyed drag strip and stock car racing, attending tractor and car shows, horseback riding, and always looked forward to attending Horse Camp with Dorris. He was constantly looking for 6 good numbers for the lottery. Ray will be remembered for being brutally honest but soft at heart. Randy L. Hockman, age 56, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 26, 2022. He was born August 9, 1965, in Olney, the son of Everett F. and Marie (Bullard) Hockman. On August 27, 1988, he married Cindy J. Young during a ceremony at Faith Lutheran Church in Flora, and together they have been blessed with sharing 33 years of enduring faith and family in their marriage. Randy loved the outdoors, especially tending to his property, raising cattle, and helping his friends and neighbors. He was an especially proud dad and grandpa, appreciating every single day spent with those he loved most. His interest in supporting youth led him to help form Little Wolves Basketball, volunteer as a junior varsity coach, and serve on the Flora school board, including as president. After studying civil engineering, Randy was employed with the Illinois Department of Transportation for over 30 years, and he was recognized for his work in 2015 as Technician of the Year. He retired
Imogene Marie Wyman, age 89, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away early Friday morning, February 25, 2022, at Flora Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. She was born April 23, 1932, in Xenia, the daughter of Everett and Helen (Akes) Carrell. Imogene was an avid gardener, spending countless hours canning and making the food that her family would eat throughout the winter. She was especially fond of making and eating canned sweet pickles. She was a member of the Xenia United Methodist Church where she belonged to the ladies sewing group. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, having always made all of her children's clothing and numerous quilts that she had gifted over the years. She enjoyed working puzzles, cross word puzzles, and word searches. Imogene enjoyed going to Community events and listening to music, playing her Baldwin organ, and playing card and board games with her grandkids. She was always the go-to babysitter and cherished memories made while spending time with her kids and
