Island Police: Camper’s repo man finds dog attached

While on patrol at 12:28 a.m. on Feb. 24, an officer came across a crash site where the motorist had fled the scene. No one came forward to report the crash.
On Friday at 10:11 a.m., the police department was asked to do an extra patrol on a South Shore Road property.
At 10:43 a.m. on Friday, an officer took a report of a dog tied up to a camper that was being repossessed. The owners came home to take care of the dog as they had not realized the camper would be repossessed that day.

At 7:29 a.m. on Feb. 16, someone called the police station to report poor social media etiquette.
On Feb. 16 at 8:48 a.m., Annabelle Morrill, 22, of Greenville, Pa., was driving a 2004 Toyota Prius westbound on Eagle Lake Road when the vehicle slid from the roadway due to snowy, ice-covered roads. Morrill was uninjured and the Prius sustained only minor damage, but it had to be towed back onto the roadway by a tow truck.
An Eden Street business reported a rabid racoon at 3:35 p.m. on Feb. 16. The racoon was acting aggressively. Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife was contacted to provide further assistance.
Island Police: Despite warning, resident skates on thin ice

On Jan. 5 at 7:20 p.m., a Hull’s Cove resident called the police department requesting the police check on a male who was ice skating on Hamilton’s Pond as she was concerned the ice was not thick enough yet. An officer made contact with the skater who, despite the warning that it may not be safe to skate, said he was going to stay and keep skating because he felt differently. No further police action was taken.
An officer checked on the welfare at someone at the town pier at 8:59 a.m. on Jan. 6.
