The Monroe News
The City of Monroe Police Department has partnered with several local businesses and faith-based agencies to offer RING surveillance cameras to residents of the 3 South voting precinct.
The program is made possible through a grant that was awarded to the MPD and its business partners. The city s police department recently joined the RING Neighbors app platform, which allows users to share photos, videos and information related to local crime and safety incidents with fellow residents.
MPD has partnered with Secondary Missionary Baptist Church and Oaks of Righteousness to offer the cameras to interested residents in the precinct. Monroe City Councilwoman Kellie Vining served as a liaison with the MPD, the faith-based organizations, and the neighborhood.
ALMOST THERE: Labor Park expected to be completed by early May
Monroe City Councilwoman Kellie Vining has already become very familiar with the playground at the city’s Labor Park.
Vining volunteers regularly at the Navarre Library, which is just next door to the recently renovated park along E. Second St. When the councilwoman’s young granddaughters come to visit her, they always insist on heading straight to the play equipment.
But Vining and her grandkids aren’t the only ones enjoying the new community amenity.
“There are always families out there lately, since the weather started to warm up,” Vining said. “You can see it’s going to be a very popular place.”
