MATHEWS Co., Va.â At least two local protesters from Virginia face charges in connection to the riot at the U.S Capitol Wednesday.
Douglas Sweet from Hudgins and Cobbs Creek resident Cindy Fitchett were arrested by Capitol Police and were charged with Unlawful Entry.
News 3 spoke to Sweet, who says he is back home after spending eight hours in jail.
âI was hoping to go in and talk to the Senate and the House and actually speak,â said Sweet. âFirst of all, you re not going to get in there unless you walk right in.â

Richard Barnett was taken into custody Friday morning in Little Rock, Arkansas, and charged with theft of public property, knowingly entering and remaining in restricted building grounds without authority, violent entry, and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
A resident of Alabama was also charged in connection with the pipe bomb found on the south side of the Capitol building. Eleven Molotov cocktails and military-style weapon were found in his pickup truck, officials said.

At least 82 individuals have been arrested in connection with Wednesday’s Capitol riot across all involved law enforcement agencies, as reported by Fox News.
A pro-Trump rally quickly devolved into a riot that breached the Capitol building and left 5 dead Wednesday. Two women, Cindy Fitchett and Xandra Sixkiller-Cramer, have been arrested by the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) due to the attack, the law enforcement agency said Thursday, according to Fox News. A USCP press release shows the 12 others arrested by USCP were men.
Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police (MPD) have arrested 68 individuals who partook in Wednesday’s events, as reported by Fox News. Of the 68 arrested by MPD, only about a dozen were women, according to Fox News.
